I must say that I appreciate daniel smith paints more than ever now! I have been trying to use Winsor & Newton fresh out of the tube as they recommend by making new mixes each day, trying to match the mix I used in the same area the day before but it is a pain. I do think that the fresh paint flows a bit better but the difference is subtle.STUDENT GRADE PAINT – as the name implies is made for students experimenting and learning watercolor without wasting tons of money on high quality paints. THE ADVANTAGES: as mentioned earlier – these paints are great for experimenting with new colors and testing out new techniques. Since these paints are so much cheaper than other options.Also, Winsor and Newton makes a smaller EVERYTHING for a slightly higher price. All colors remain workable for 4-8 hours, and dry at the same rate to a uniform semi-gloss finish.advantages cheap price to purchase 5gal latex paint is much cheaper than 5gal oil paint. Is waterbased for easy clean up. Dries quicker based on humidity levels. Can be thinned out with water for ease of brush movement. Great for speckling, scrunching and sponging color. Disadvantages.
